Your details,
handled quietly.

We collect as little as possible, use it only to answer you or deliver what you asked for, and never sell it.

(01)

Who we are

ilovenewzealand.co.nz ("I Love New Zealand", "we", "us") is a New Zealand owned and operated travel discovery platform publishing destination guides, itineraries, editorial features, a business directory and a small merchandise shop.

This policy explains what information we collect when you use the website, why we collect it, who else may process it, and the choices you have. It covers only this website.

(02)

Information you give us

We only collect what you choose to send us through the website:

  • Contact and enquiry forms — your name, email address, message and any details you include.
  • Journey, tour and itinerary enquiries — travel dates, party size, interests, budget range and contact details, so we can prepare an estimate or reply.
  • Business listing applications and "Invite Us" assessment requests — business name, contact person, email, phone, location, description and any photographs you upload.
  • Newsletter subscription — your email address only.
  • Shop orders — delivery name and address, email and order contents, needed to quote shipping and fulfil the order.

Please don't send us sensitive personal information. We use what you send only to respond to you, to deliver the service you asked for, and to keep records of that transaction.

(03)

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, some technical information is collected when you browse — for example pages viewed, referring page, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and general interaction events such as searches, saved items and outbound clicks.

This is used in aggregate to understand which content is useful and to improve the site. We do not use it to build profiles of identified individuals ourselves.

(04)

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies and similar storage are used on this website for:

  • Essential functions — making pages, forms and checkout work.
  • Preferences stored in your own browser — for example your saved places ("My New Zealand") and trip planning progress, which stay on your device and are not sent to us.
  • Analytics — measuring traffic and page performance.
  • Advertising — where ads are shown, to measure and where consented, personalise them.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Essential functions may not work correctly if you do.

(05)

Analytics — Google Analytics 4

We use Google Analytics 4 to measure how the website is used. It records events such as page views and basic interactions, along with technical details of the request. Google processes this data on our behalf and may transfer it outside New Zealand.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google's browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.

(06)

Advertising, consent and personalised ads

This website is set up for Google AdSense. Where advertising is served, Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve, cap and measure ads, and — only with your consent where consent is required — to personalise them based on your interests.

Where required (for example for visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), a Google-certified consent management platform will ask for your choices before advertising and measurement cookies are set. You can choose non-personalised ads, which still use limited information such as approximate location and page content for contextual relevance and fraud prevention.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the consent prompt, and manage Google ad settings directly in your Google account. We do not run auto ads across the whole site — placements are limited to editorial pages and are labelled.

(07)

Affiliate links and booking partners

Some links and search widgets on this site are affiliate links or embedded partner tools, including Travelpayouts, Klook and other travel partners. When you click through or use an embedded widget, that partner receives your request directly and applies its own privacy policy and cookies, typically including a tracking identifier so any resulting booking is attributed to us.

If you book with a partner, your booking and payment details are handled by that partner, not by us. We may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

(08)

Payments

Payments for merchandise, business listings and paid assessments are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered on Stripe's secure checkout and are never received or stored by us. We receive confirmation of the payment — such as a payment reference, amount, status and the contact and delivery details needed to fulfil your order.

Merchandise orders are produced and shipped by our print-on-demand partner Gelato, which receives the name, delivery address and item details required to produce and deliver your order.

(09)

Third-party service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the website. Depending on what you do, these may include:

  • Hosting and database/storage infrastructure for the website and submitted form data.
  • Google — analytics, advertising and consent management.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Gelato — merchandise production and shipping.
  • Email delivery services — sending confirmations, replies and newsletters.
  • Travel affiliate partners — search widgets and booking referrals.
  • An AI provider — powering "Ask Aotearoa". Your questions are sent to that provider to generate a reply; please don't include personal details in your questions.

These providers may process information outside New Zealand. We share information with them only as needed to run the service described here. We do not sell your personal information.

(10)

Retention and security

We keep enquiry, listing, assessment and order records only as long as needed to respond to you, fulfil the service, and meet legal, tax and accounting obligations — then delete or archive them. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls on stored data and payment handling by a specialist provider. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please take care with what you send us.

(11)

Your privacy choices and rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Privacy Act 2020, the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

You can also, at any time:

  • Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any newsletter, or by emailing us.
  • Ask us to delete an enquiry, listing application or subscription record.
  • Change or withdraw advertising consent where a consent prompt is shown.
  • Block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser, including your saved places.

If you live in the EEA or UK, you may also have rights to erasure, restriction, portability and objection; we will honour those requests where they apply. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

(12)

Children

This website is intended for a general adult travel audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
