Inside the edition
A book, not a blog post
The Guide is laid out as a real publication: a cover, chapters, destination spreads, pull quotes and a back-of-book directory. It is designed at B5 so it reads well on a phone in a campervan and prints properly if you would rather carry paper.
Made to be read at 8am with a flat white.
Before you go
Visas and NZeTA, insurance, connectivity, money and what to pack by season.
When to visit
Month-by-month weather patterns, crowd levels and what is actually open.
Getting around
Driving realities, one-lane bridges, ferry crossings and honest travel times.
North Island
Spread by spread, from Northland to Wellington.
South Island
Marlborough to Fiordland, with the alpine passes explained.
Itineraries & tours
Routes from five to twenty-one days, self-drive or guided.
The Little Black Book
Curated places we would send a friend — editorial, unpaid.
Sources & safety
Every volatile fact paired with the official source to check.

About this Guide
How it is researched, written and drawn
Every word and illustration is original I Love New Zealand work. Facts are researched from New Zealand primary sources — the Department of Conservation, Waka Kotahi NZTA, MetService, Immigration New Zealand and the operators themselves — then written in our own words. Nothing is reproduced from another publication, and no photograph or map is copied from another site.
We use AI tools in our production process, always under human editorial control: a person researches, verifies and signs off every page before it is published. Directory entries are chosen on merit and cannot be bought; paid placements, where they appear, are always labelled as such.
A published edition is a fixed snapshot of the date it was generated. We do not quietly rewrite it — corrections and new information go into the next annual edition. Where information changes with the weather, the season or the road, the Guide names the official source to check on the day.
